It’s really hard to say goodbye to almond milk. I wish I didn’t have to. Now I’m stuck making homemade hemp milk every week! It’s fine. It works like a charm in smoothies. I mean, when am I ever just drinking a big glass of any kind of milk, to be honest? Never. But I’m still bummed, almond milk was my jam. Did you know that almonds are one of the highest oxalate foods? If you have any kind of thyroid imbalance, especially thyroid nodules (yours truly), or kidney stones you may want to avoid foods highest in oxalates - they are small molecules that have the ability to form crystals which can deposit in different areas of the body, often in kidney tissue and the thyroid gland. Oxalate foods in moderation are usually no big deal for most people, especially if you’ve never had thyroid or kidney issues - but milking or juicing a large amount of them can cause overload. So… I’m cutting out the almonds! I like a cashew / hemp seed milk blend as well. Anyone have another seed milk favorite? Sunflower perhaps? Please send them my way. ❤️. .

Pretty Great Instant Hemp Milk 😉: ½ C shelled hemp seeds, 3 C cold filtered water, ½ tsp vanilla extract, 1 pitted date, a few turns of the pink salt shaker. Blend it all on HIGH for awhile until it’s totally smooth and super frothy! Chill.

Broccoli rabe is one of my favorite bitter vegetables and I wanted to show it some love and mention exactly why it’s so wonderful &, I’ll even say, essential for us to eat bitter greens like these.
